This document is the first of two volumes describing the activities of the Tri-State Parenting Collaborative (TSPC) Project, conducted in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota during the period from 1977 through 1982. The TSPC linked state education agencies, universities, local schools, community groups, and an education development center in a comprehensive effort to educate adolescents and young adults about the responsibilities of parenthood. Serving as a final report, this volume is divided into six parts: part 1 provides an executive summary of the project, part 2 offers an introduction to the project, part 3 documents the need for parenting education and describes the history and objectives of parenting education, part 4 details the tri-state model and program activities, part 5 is dedicated to the evaluation of the project, and part 6 provides a concluding statement, a listing of key project personnel, and a bibliography.
