Professional Computer Education Organizations--A Resource for Administrators.
Professional computer education organizations serve a valuable function by generating, collecting, and disseminating information concerning the role of the computer in education. This report touches briefly on the reasons for the rapid and successful development of professional computer education organizations. A number of attributes of effective schools are listed along with ways in which computers can enhance these characteristics. The value to the school of the administrator's supporting the participation of school staff members in professional organizations is emphasized. The effective cooperation between the San Mateo County (California) Office of Education and the professional organization, Computer-Using Educators, to create a software library for educational use serves as an example of the mutual benefits obtainable. Addresses are provided for three international computer organizations of interest to elementary and secondary level educators. (PGD)
