Long-Range Plan for Gateway Technical Institute. 1982-1987: Serving Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth Counties.
Stoehr, Keith W.; Covelli, Nicholas J.
This report presents Gateway Technical Institute's long-range plan for 1982-1987. After prefatory material discussing financial and non-financial factors that may impinge on the plan, Chapter I outlines the socioeconomic situation in the three-county area of Wisconsin served by the college and introduces some of the critical issues that the Gateway District may face in the next 5 years (e.g., staff development, staff reductions, a changing student profile, and new technologies). Chapter II then specifies the mission of the Gateway District in terms of the philosophy and objectives of Wisconsin's Board of Vocational Technical and Adult Education (VTAE) and of the Gateway VTAE District. Chapter III discusses enrollments within the context of a demographic profile of the Gateway District and outlines and projects trends in student characteristics and enrollments. Chapter IV provides, first, consideration of future educational programs and services with respect to instructional and community service missions, community needs, articulation with business and industry, and program and staff assessment; and, second, a discussion of support programs and services, which focuses on their missions and the modes of accomplishing them and on the goals and assessment of administration and staff. Chapter V reviews and projects financial resources and facilities. Finally, Chapter VI presents a summary, conclusions, and recommendations. Appendices include enrollment and demographic data. (HB)
