One of a series of pre-apprenticeship phase 1 training modules, this self-paced student training module deals with the importance of good communication skills and ways of improving skill in listening and in being listened to. Included in the module are the following: cover sheet listing module title, goals, and performance indicators; introduction; study guide/check list with directions for module completion; information sheet discussing active listening and expressing one's feelings directly and effectively; self-assessment; self-assessment answers; and post assessment. Emphasis of the module is on the two-sided nature of communication as well as on the right and obligation of the individual to assure that communication is a two-way process.
