Women's Legal Rights in Alaska. Reprint.
Tatter, Sue Ellen; Saville, Sandra K.
This publication is intended to help women in Alaska learn about their legal rights. Some of the information is of a general nature and will be of interest to women in other states. Some of the laws and resources are relevant to Alaska only. The publication can serve as a model to other states wanting to develop a resource to inform women about their legal rights. The law concerning women's rights is not just one rule written in the law books. It is a combination of constitutional provisions, court decisions, laws passed by the state, federal, and local legislators, and regulations passed by government agencies. All of these are discussed in the publication concerning the following topics: employment; credit; criminal law and violence against women; inheritance; names, name changes, and birth certificates; involuntary commitment; adoption; childbearing decisions; parent and child; marriage and marriage-type partnerships; divorce and dissolution; and public assistance. The publication concludes with a glossary of legal definitions and a resource directory. (RM)
