The Young Child: Reviews of Research, Volume 3.
Moore, Shirley G., Ed.; Cooper, Catherine R., Ed.
This volume contains an introductory chapter on the use of research, and 13 reviews of the most recent research findings in selected areas of child development. The reviews are on topics of particular concern to practitioners in education, child care, and health and psychological services, and are appropriate for post-secondary, college-level, and graduate students, as well as for practicing professionals and parent education programs. The reviews are clustered under five general topics: socioemotional beginnings, language and thinking, children's social relationships, biological factors in development, and special needs of children. Each of the five clusters is preceded by a brief overview of the cluster content and a commentary on the major themes recurring in the cluster. Subject and author indexes, a list of contributors, and a list of selected publications of the National Association for the Education of Young Children are given at the end of the book. (MP)
