Graphic Arts. Secondary Curriculum Guide.
Sappe, J. Hoyt; And Others
This curriculum guide provides a model for organizing vocational instructional content from which secondary level instructors can extract a graphic arts curriculum that meets local needs. Primarily oriented towards classroom use, this guide may also assist administrators, counselors, and lay people involved in local school systems. Following a discussion of the philosophy and objectives underlying state and local vocational education programs in Georgia, the purpose and objectives of the guide are set forth. Various occupational information pertaining to the field of graphic arts is provided, including a description of the occupational field of graphic arts, employability skills, student exit points, and tasks performed by persons employed in the field. Following a sample curriculum structure and course outline, a series of unit guides are presented. Each of these contains a task statement, a performance objective, instructional activities, suggested instructional materials, and evaluation criteria. The next two sections consist of listings of references and resources and various student record forms. Set forth next are suggestions for working with special needs students. Facility layouts for a learning resource center and a learning laboratory are also included. (MN)
