This teacher's manual is intended for use in individualized reading instruction in the Waukegan (Illinois) Behavior Analysis Follow Through Program, which is based on a model emphasizing the basic skills of reading, math, spelling, and handwriting to meet the educational needs of low-income students in kindergarten through third grade. The first section of the manual describes the materials used in the program, including the behavior analysis "Phonics Primer" and the Sullivan "Programmed Reading Series." The second section presents the procedures for teaching reading in the program--first with the primer, then with the Sullivan series--and includes procedures for increasing reading comprehension. Appendixes contain a variety of teacher aids, including examples of praise and prompting phrases, daily record sheets, a glossary, classroom floor plans, and recommended stories for guided reading in the Sullivan series.
