Tree Identification. Competency Based Teaching Materials in Horticulture.

This competency-based curriculum unit on tree identification is one of five developed for classroom use in teaching the landscape/nursery area of horticulture. The three sections are each divided into teaching content (in a question-and-answer format) and student skills that outline steps and factors for consideration. Topics covered include identifying plant material (by leaf), using proper storage techniques, and quality sorting nursery stock prior to shipment. A list of references precedes a section containing visual aids, student skill checklist, and student activities, such as field trips, handouts, discussion activities, worksheets, crossword puzzles, hands-on experiences, tests, and quizzes.
