Lessons typically include ingenuity exercises; lecture; simulation activities; use of filmstrips, movies, and books; class discussion; and guest speakers (usually disabled persons). Units at each grade level are preceded by a unit outline which identifies learning objectives and concepts. Lesson plans are organized to include information on activity name, learning objective, materials needed, and teaching procedure.
