Part of a five-part package (see note) of training materials to teach interviewing skills to human services personnel, this typescript manual is intended for use as a visual reference to aid in understanding the taped dialogues of the packages tape/slide demonstrations of interview interaction, and for referral in class discussions. The typescript contains 17 samples of interviews that are shown in the slide/tape presentation. The traininq program defines the skills that interviewers need to ensure that as much relevant information as possible is exchanged during interviews, and it helps turn these skills into lasting habits. Major topics covered in the typescript include planning the interview, structuring the interview setting, information dissemination effectiveness, information collection effectiveness, observing the interviewee, listening to the interviewee, organizing, interaction techniques discrimination, interaction styles during the interview, and facilitative interaction style during the interview. Interview samples are staged in a vocational rehabilitation center. (KC)
