This document reviews one year of the Radio Mathematics Project (RMP), seen as a promising medium of instruction within the developing world. The major intent of this report is to share information early in the life of the project with those interested in educational development. The work of Stanford University and the Nicaraguan Ministry of Public Education as reported constitutes one of the Agency for International Development's (AID's) largest research projects in education. The document contains the following chapters: (1) History and Description of the Project; (2) California Pilot Radio Lessons; (3) Nicaragua Pilot Radio Lessons; (4) Nicaragua First-Grade Achievement Test; (5) Curriculum Structure; (6) Instructional Methods and Principles; (7) Radio Lesson Design; (8) Operation of the Project; and (9) Results.
