Issues of collection development, production of a national bibliography, and the provision for a national research collection of children's literature are discussed in the context of the State Library of Victoria's recent experience in establishing such a collection. Topics covered include problems connected with legal deposit, identification, collection building and organization, storage, and use. Five references are provided. (RAA)
