The Services to Unruly Youth Program.
Franklin County Children Services, Grove City, OH.
This report describes the Services to Unruly Youth Program, a pilot project designed to provide services outside the juvenile justice system to unruly youth. Procedures used in the delivery of these services to unruly youth are listed, including service reception, support units, and the community services system. Technical and citizen support are discussed, and staffing and program costs are explained. A chapter about program data reviews the use of program referrals, community services system referrals, and school truancy intervention data. A summary of research presents evaluation data about: (1) the overall effectiveness of the program in dealing with status offenders; (2) the growth rate and trends of the program; (3) the socio-demographic characteristics of the youth served; (4) the types of services provided; (5) the extent of the youths' delinquent activity two years after participation; (6) the effectiveness in reducing unruly behavior and improving parent understanding; and (7) the degree to which the program objectives are being met.
