A revision of the document of the same title published in 1971, this publication contains the description of each physical education test event designated by the California State Board of Education annually. Also included are directions for administering, conditioning, reporting, and using the results of the test events. The new norm tables represent the renorming project of 1979-80. The publication is geared towards assisting governing boards of school districts in establishing policies for conducting physical performance tests in their districts; to administrators in implementing the policies established; to supervisory personnel in evaluating the testing procedure; and to teachers in administering the California Physical Performance Test. Educators are urged to use this test to accomplish the following: (1) identify physically underdeveloped youth; (2) appraise pupil progress; (3) adapt instruction to individual needs; (4) adapt the physical education program to students' needs; and (5) use valid tests to determine students' physical abilities.
