Expectations of Vocational Teacher Education and the Disadvantaged.

This paper outlines strategies being pursued at Rutgers University for making future vocational education teachers more responsive to disadvantaged students. Methods of affecting changes in teachers' attitudes and teaching techniques are discussed. The mastery approach is described as a teaching method especially effective with disadvantaged students and applications of mastery learning to vocational education are reviewed. The need for vocational teachers to become involved in educational service activities is also stressed. (APM)
