Validity and Use of Individualized Classroom Environment Questionnaire.

The Individualized Classroom Environment Questionnaire (ICEQ) is designed to measure student or teacher perceptions of actual and preferred classroom learning environment along dimensions which differentiate individualized classrooms from conventional ones. These dimensions are Personalization, Participation, Independence, Investigation, and Differentiation. This paper reports data analyses which provide information about: (1) the validity of the ICEQ; (2) differences between scores on different forms of the ICEQ; (3) relationships between student learning outcomes and perceptions of classroom individualization; and (4) relationships between student learning outcomes and actual/preferred congruence.
