Engineering Education for the 21st Century.

A revised version of a paper presented at a mini-plenary session of the 88th Annual Conference of the American Society for Engineering Education, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, June 25, 1980, is discussed. A panel of industry and government representatives addressed the question of the kinds of educational backgrounds that will be called upon in the 21st century by the users of engineering graduates and discussed the impact of advancing technology as well as the increased interface between society and technology in various segments of the user world.
