This four-part booklet provides guidance for clergy members interested in establishing or maintaining cooperative relations with local community colleges. Part I presents a metaphorical rationale for these relations; discourages an overemphasis on "presence ministries"; presents ways to initiate short-term exchanges between the college and the church based on four kinds of church-college relationships; and looks at four conditions that can threaten cooperative relations. Part II presents a manual for initiating and maintaining long-term campus ministries, providing: (1) an outline of steps in developing a broad-based, ongoing relationship; (2) interview questions for pastors interested in finding out about a college and for an established church-college group interested in evaluating their relationship; (3) a worksheet for identifying areas for potential cooperation; (4) five factors in stable church-college relations and a worksheet based on them for evaluating existing programs; (5) a worksheet for project preview and review; (6) a management tool for identifying the most important point of focus for a campus-parish ministry; (7) a checklist of resource persons; (8) a sample church-college covenant; and (9) a summary of possibilities for cooperation. Part III discusses the purpose of workshops on campus ministries for church leaders, and Part IV lists additional resource materials. (JP)
