A Survey of 1971-1977: Graduates of the Model Secondary School for the Deaf.
Uno, Tad; Petty, Cheryl
A survey of 105 graduates of the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) from 1971 to 1977 was conducted. Although the majority of the graduates were single, earlier classes tended to have greater numbers of married graduates than the more recent classes of 1976 and 1977. Approximately 70% have attended or are now attending postsecondary educational programs, and 54% were employed while 9% were not. The reactions of the graduates to MSSD were largely positive, particularly to the services provided by counselors, advisors, and teachers. Ss indicated the need for developing better study skills and for putting greater emphasis on reading and writing. Ss rated the courses offered by MSSD. (Author)
