This manual is designed for use with adult or secondary school home economics students to enhance their awareness of the tasks and physical limitations faced by aged homemakers, and to identify possible adaptations for making the food management task easier and safer for older adults. The most frequently performed food preparation tasks are presented in a self-instructional, programed learning format with pre- and post-tests. The learning activities and information sheets focus on analyzing each food management task and providing alternative strategies to facilitate task accomplishment. The appendices contain a glossary, facilitator instructions, sample worksheets for duplicating the materials, and a reference list. (Author/KMF)
