Pyramid Training of Teachers in Classroom Management Techniques.

The effectiveness of a teaching method known as "pyramid training" is appraised. This training method was implemented in an inservice program called the Classroom Management Training Program (CMTP). The pyramid technique progressed in the following manner: A three day training session in classroom management skills was taught by a a consultant to six elementary school teachers. After a month, during which the CMTP skills could be practiced, the teachers received an additional three days training emphasizing how to teach other teachers the CMTP skills. These teachers then became coaches with the responsibility of teaching groups of other teacher CMTP skills. This study explores the pyramid model of training within the context of its validity as a teaching tool that may be used in teacher centers. (JD)
