Practical Handles #2. Public Involvement. The Home-School-Community Partnership.
The articles in this publication are synopses of model programs developed to strengthen the relationships between the home, school, and community. Examples are provided of using community resources to foster creativity and family oriented leisure activities. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of the community at large as a unifying force providing opportunities for the family and school to join in projects that enrich the learning experiences of children and bring parents and teachers together for greater understanding of mutual problems and goals. Descriptions are given of programs that encourage the use of community museums, businesses, and volunteers. Cooperation between community agencies is the focus of several of the programs. (JD)
