Issued to inform the Governor, State Legislature, and tribal governments of the proceedings, transactions, findings, and recommendations made by the Commission, this 1976-77 annual report includes the following: the Commission's membership; population and acreage of Arizona reservations; commission meetings during the year; projects completed; published materials distributed; commission highlights; budget; and special feature, a profile of Fort Mojave (Mojave land, people, culture, and history; tribal government; current activities; and tribal involvement). Among the major Commission accomplishments listed are sponsorship of four Annual Indian Town Hall Conferences on "Arizona Indian Water Rights,""Sovereignty and Inter-Governmental Relations with Arizona Indian Tribes,""Arizona's Indian Participation in the Political Process," and "P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination and Education Assistance Act" (in the area of contracting). Among the many projects completed by the Commission and discussed in brief are: sponsorship of an all-Indian two-day rodeo; coordination of meetings between the Governor and the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona; publication of the 1977 "Tribal Directory"; publication of the "Indian Federal Legislative Digest #12"; sponsorship of a survey of reservation dental facilities; and publication of "Capitol Drumbeat," a newsletter summarizing state legislation affecting Indian peoples.
