Production and Distribution of Educational Materials and Equipment in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, Paris (France).
This study presents the main features of a model for the design, production, and distribution of educational media, software, hardware, and equipment for the schools of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (CSR). Introduced by an overview of the CSR educational system, the report includes a discussion of media in the schools dealing with such concerns as principles and aims, criteria for introduction of hardware, integration into the educational process, a taxonomy of media, and educational equipment requirements. The evaluation process is described, and quantitative data are provided on education in the CSR in 1976-77 and production and distribution of both software and hardware. Planning, organization, and procedures for approval are discussed in relation to the production system, as well as the manufacture of educational materials and equipment, the role of specialized institutions, media produced in the schools, and textbook production. A description of the provision and distribution system includes central distribution, the regional delivery scheme, and the individual order scheme. Also considered are further training of educational personnel and mass communication, i.e., school radio broadcasting and television programs for schools. Appendices include organization charts, an outline of the multimedia system, surveys of recommended hardware, and diagrams of special classrooms for audiovisual communication. (LLS)
