The Goals and Objectives for 1979-1980: Report of the Retreat/Planning Session for Greenfield Community College (Stratton Mountain, Vermont, July 12-13, 1979)[and] End of Year Summary Report, 1979-1980.
DiCarlo, Robert D.
The planning process described in this report was utilized by Greenfield Community College to establish institutional goals for the academic year 1979-1980. After introductory material discussing the rationale behind the college's decision to expand their efforts in goal development, the report describes the agenda and organization of a two-day planning workshop held in July 1979, at which small groups of faculty and staff identified and assigned priorities to institutional goals and objectives. Results are then discussed of a retreat follow-up in which participants were asked to indicate the most significant outcomes of the retreat, provide suggestions for future planning sessions, rate the various aspects of the retreat and its agenda, and speculate on the probability of the acceptance of the institutional goals established during the retreat by the college community. Statements of the goals themselves, lists of specific objectives corresponding to the goals, and implementation timetables are then provided in the areas of curriculum review; community resources; student recruitment, advising, and retention; communication; organizational restructuring; expansion of services; and funding. Finally, an end-of-year evaluative summary is provided which details the activities conducted to achieve each objective and the progress to date. (JP)
