A Management by Objectives Analysis of a Club Program in a New York City Public Intermediate School. Part I and Part II.
Documentation presented concerns the planning, implementation, and evaluation that took place in the development of a club program in a public intermediate school in New York City. The club program provides activities during the lunchtime period that expand and/or enrich the school curriculum offerings. Club activities offered were a rap group and activities in the areas of science, independent research, fine arts, music, drama, opera performance, film, dance, gymnastics, girls basketball, soccer, and chess. The first half of the study describes the program and identifies the program's objectives and the strategies used to implement these objectives. The second part contains a review of the literature about current practices in the area of cocurricular activities, the instruments used to evaluate the program, and the results of the evaluation.
