Profiles of Teaching Competency. The Occasional Papers Series.
Wassermann, Selma; Eggert, Wallace
This instrument identifies nineteen pairs of behavioral profiles which are seen as related to competent performance in classroom teaching. Each pair contains two views of a particular kind of behavior--a "positive" view and a "negative" view. It is designed for use in rating student teachers and may be used by supervisors and cooperating teachers, or by the student as a guideline for behaviors most generally accepted as being exemplary for good teaching. The first section offers seven profiles of teacher behavior, outlook, attitude, and beliefs. In section two, seven profiles are presented of positive and negative ways of interacting with pupils. The final section contains profiles of teaching behaviors in classroom management and instructional procedure. (JD)
