Catholic Elementary Schools and Their Finances, 1980.
Bredeweg, Frank H.
Until recently there had been no systematic effort to gather comparable data from public and private schools. However, for the years 1976-77 through 1978-79, with the cooperation of the National Catholic Education Association and the Council for American Private Education, the National Center for Education Statistics surveyed all known private schools to acquire data on enrollments, staffing, and finances. Selected information has been summarized and published, and more publications are forthcoming. The data contained here focus on the enrollment of school-age children in public and private schools; the percentage of students in public, Catholic, and other parochial and private schools; the operating costs of Catholic elementary schools (by region and state); the size of Catholic elementary schools; the sources of revenue of Catholic elementary schools; the tuition ranges of Catholic elementary schools; and the pupil-teacher ratios of public and private schools and of Catholic elementary schools.
