Handicapped Children's Early Education Program. 1979-80 Overview and Directory.

The document provides an introduction and overview of the Handicapped Children's Early Education Program (HCEEP) and abstracts of each of the 208 HCEEP projects. HCEEP has five types of projects: (1) 127 demonstration projects, which provide parents, communities, and professionals with models for early childhood education; (2) 49 outreach projects, designed to encourage replication of the demonstration projects; (3) state implementation grants, which help states plan and coordinate new or expanded early intervention services for handicapped children; (4) four early childhood research institutes, which seek new information; and (5) technical assistance centers, which support the demonstration projects and implementation grant recipients. Abstracts of each of the HCEEP projects are provided as is an index which lists key characteristics. (PHR)
