A Review of Teacher Effectiveness Research in Africa, India, Latin America, Middle East, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand: Synthesis of Results.

Research studies of teachers in developing nations are discussed and synthesized. An examination of government policies in the different countries provides a background against which the findings are viewed. Institutional and methodological characteristics of the studies viewed in each region are analyzed. Unresearched or unanswered problems are identified and suggestions are offered for future research. Results from this review and parallel reviews in developed nations are compared and significant contrasts are pointed out. (JD)
