The document contains student materials and a teacher's guide for a unit to help second grade students consider decisions that must be made when purchasing and caring for a pet. Students draw pictures of objects they need, classify pictures according to needs and wants, consider needs of persons living in other climates, decide the best place to get a pet, and identify wants and needs of pets. The teacher's guide contains objectives, a materials list, instructions for making games, and reproducible pre- and posttests and worksheets with keys.
