The Job Interview. Teacher's Guide [and] Student Material.

This document provides teaching guidelines and student material for use in high school business, English, or career education programs. Time allotment is from six to eight hours of classroom time. The objective of this capsule is to help students prepare for job interviews. The material is divided into three sections. Section I, Before the Interview, includes information on researching the company, selecting appropriate dress, and identifying personal strengths. Section II, During the Interview, describes appropriate responses and attitudes, offers sample interview questions, and identifies the four parts of the interview. Section III, After the Interview, describes actions to be taken after the interview. Eight learning activities include listing strong and weak points, drawing a comic strip, designing a bulletin board or poster, watching video tapes of interviews and evaluating them, doing mock interviews, and writing letters of acceptance and rejection. The teacher's guide provides advance preparation information, keys to activities and tests, a bibliography, and copies of all worksheets and assessments. (CK)
