Planning for Comprehensive, Sequential Home Economics Curriculum. Phase One. Final Report.

This final report contains a fourteen-page narrative and appended materials of phase 1 of an Illinois project to provide up-to-date comprehensive sequential home economics materials for use in grades 6-12. These activities are reported: development of an annotated bibliography of curriculum guides, extensive literature searches related to philosophical issues and futuristic trends and issues in home economics, survey of teachers to determine state-of-the-art of home economics teachers and programs to provide bases for curriculum decisions, review of curriculum models (with subsequent selection of the "Missouri model" for use as a guide), and planning for phases 2 and 3. Appended materials include minutes of project meetings and the state-of-the-art report on vocational home economics in Illinois, which involved a survey of vocational home economics teachers, grades 6-12. This report contains information on development of the instrument, selection of the sample, administration of the instrument, and treatment of the data. These objectives are given: to obtain demographic information about home economics teachers and schools in Illinois and to determine content of home economics programs in the state of Illinois.
