The third year (1978-79) evaluation of a Rhode Island Experience-Based Career Education (EBCE) project assessed overall operations and attainment of stated goals and objectives. The project served sophomores, juniors, and seniors in local high schools and one vocational technical facility in seven communities. Accomplishments were evidenced through pre/post and post only analyses of data collected through formal standardized instruments, job site observations, informal interviews with project staff and students, and reviews of project records. These results regarding realization of objectives were indicated: EBCE students showed no significant increase in career maturity, career knowledge, learning attitudes, or self concept and EBCE juniors performed statistically better on a math concepts scale. A Student Opinion Survey (SOS) collected data concerning reasons for enrolling, experiences EBCE made available, project success, job site experience, student learning or improvement, student change, and student evaluation of EBCE. A Resource Opinion Survey (ROS) included site offerings and activities, site's satisfaction, importance of EBCE, and strengths and weaknesses. School coordinator interviews collected information on the World of Work source, job site experiences, credit for EBCE, responsibilities, and operations. Student interviews covered information not contained in the SOS. (Extensive appendixes include the SOS, ROS, and School Coordinator Interview.
