Removing the Mask: A Workbook for Teachers Concerned about Sex-Role Stereotyping, with Program Notes to the Television Series "Jill and Jack/Fiction and Fact".
Grant, Anne; Sullivan, Pat
This is a workbook for an inservice teacher training course on sex role stereotypes. The workbook is divided into eight workshop topics: the masculine mystique, the feminine mystique, language and textbooks, classroom practices, early childhood, athletics, career guidance, and cultural values. For each topic, suggestions as to the structure and content of the workshop on that area are presented. In addition, the corresponding segment of the television series "Jill and Jack/Fiction and Fact" is outlined. The focus of the inservice program is, through group sharing, to increase participants' awareness of and ability to confront the power of sex role stereotypes in the classroom and in everyday life.
