Reviews of National Policies for Education: Denmark.

This publication reviews educational policies in Denmark. The review focuses on and examines a national report on the entire education system published under the title of "U-90: Danish Educational Planning and Policy in a Social Context at the End of the 20th Century." In 1977 the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was asked to appoint a team of examiners to comment critically on U-90. This publication contains the examiner's report in four parts. The first part appraises the extent to which U-90 provides a comprehensive and convincing orientation to the development of an education system that will be able to adapt to anticipated social and economic changes during the next two decades. The second part of the review analyzes trends and problems in the various sectors of the system. The third part suggests how the governmental machinery, the school community, and educational researchers and practitioners might cooperate to lead Danish education toward 1990 along the most suitable path.
