Project CHOICE: #173. A Career Unit for Grades K-2. Introduction to Working.
Kern County Superintendent of Schools, Bakersfield, CA.
This teaching unit on introducing work is part of a series of career guidebooks developed by Project CHOICE (Children Have Options in Career Education). The units are designed to provide the classroom teacher with a source of career-related activities linking first and second grade classroom experiences with the world of work. Each unit follows a typical format that includes the unit rationale, goals, performance objectives, entry-level assessment, suggested instructional materials (including books, films, and filmstrips), and instructional strategy. The instructional strategy section contains six lessons designed to help students become aware of their own educational experiences as they relate to realistic situations and of the relationships between school-learned skills, career preparation and daily living. Each lesson is comprised of the following sections: purpose, materials, introduction, class activities, and summary activity. Task cards are appended. (This guide is one of fourteen in the series for grades 1 and 2.) (LRA)
