Ethnicity and the Thematic Commitment of Western Social Science.

This annotated bibliography was compiled for the development of curricular materials in comparative ethnicity. The introduction attempts to probe into the problem of the political and philosophical underpinnings of social science in a way that brings out the important implications of the sociology of knowledge of the social sciences in the context of ethnicity. Part II cites general and theoretical works pertaining to ethnicity in America. Part III, "Ethnicity in Relation to American Social Institutions," contains citations on the relationship between ethnicity and politics, education, the family, religion, and the police. The works included in Part IV focus on the experience of immigrants to the United States. Part V cites works which address the social psychology of ethnicity. (Author/MK)
