Study and Teaching Opportunities Abroad: Sources of Information about Overseas Study, Teaching, Work, and Travel.
McIntyre, Pat Kern
This booklet provides current information about opportunities for study, teaching, research, travel, and work abroad. A reference source, the booklet does not answer specific questions, but refers persons to the most appropriate sources of assistance. Information is included on programs administered by the Division of International Education; by the Office of Education; by other federal, state, or local agencies; or by a wide variety of private institutions and organizations. There are six parts to the booklet. Part 1 briefly describes some of the major public and private organizations and agencies helpful to those thinking about undertaking an educational experience abroad. In Part 2, "Study Abroad," the private organizations that conduct summer, semester, academic, and one year exchange programs for high school students are described. Ways to evaluate overseas study travel programs are examined in Part 3. The topic treated in Part 4 is federal financial assistance for postsecondary overseas study and research. Part 5 cites sources to contact for those interested in teaching abroad. Sources of information about travel and work opportunities are contained in Chapter 6. A bibliography of selected reference materials is included in the Appendix. (Author/RM)
