Basic Grants. End-of-Year Report 1978-79.
Bureau of Student Financial Assistance (DHEW/OE), Washington, DC.
The end-of-year report for the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant (BEOG) Program for 1978-79 contains general information and statistical tables based on merged applicant/recipient data. The core of the report is a series of tables, organized into four chapters and accompanied by narrative, which describe in detail selected aspects of program activity. Chapter 1 contains general information on the total number of applicants processed, the number of grant recipients, the types and number of institutions participating in the BEOG program and typical income-related characteristics of applicants and recipients. Chapter 2 is a detailed analysis of selected demographic characteristics of applicants and recipients and the impact of these characteristics on grant levels. The interrelationship of factors such as recipient age, family income, dependency status, Student Eligibility Index, and educational cost is examined. Chapter 3 provides summary information on the numbers, type, and control and location of BEOG participating institutions. Chapter 4 is a new section added to the annual report that looks at selected aspects of the Multiple Data Entry Application Processing System. A glossary of terms is appended to the report. (DC)
