Special Education Practica and Internship Experiences.

The undergraduate special education teacher training program at the University of South Alabama is described. The program emphasizes practica placements in public schools and agencies serving exceptional children and youth. Practicum at the freshman level consists primarily of observation, with each year providing greater exposure. Student teaching/internship involves a full 10-week quarter in the senior year. The roles of the college supervisor and the cooperating teacher are reviewed along with the evaluation system used. (CL)
