This guide to administrator evaluation includes research findings and theoretical background as well as applicatory materials for use by school boards and administrators. It proceeds from a general consideration of personnel evaluation and the problems it entails to a discussion of the essential steps in the process. Chapter 1 provides information on the environment in which the administrator works. Chapters 2, 3, and 4 then discuss in detail the phases of the evaluation process and how an evaluation system can be implemented. Chapter 5 explores the assessment of the evaluation process, including the training of evaluators of administrators. Finally, Chapter 6 gives a set of guidelines, examples, and forms that can be used to develop procedures and materials in a given school district. (Author/LD)
