This final report of a project to develop an Interchange Model Office Program providing training and work laboratory experiences also contains two products of the project--an employee's handbook and a manager's guide. The narrative describes the program involving two separate classes, each representing a business that conducts transactions with the other, thus providing students with (1) a work laboratory setting to further develop office skills and work habits and attitudes; (2) simulated work experiences, including problem solving, error correction, and work under pressure; and (3) a smooth transition from classroom to office. The employee's handbook contains student materials on the two "businesses" involved in the interchange model office program. Company policies, flow chart, office layout, job descriptions, evaluation sheet, and detailed outlines of duties within "company" departments are provided. (Students submit applications and are interviewed and given job assignments; they may work in different departments at different times.) The manager's guide provides an overview, objectives, and course outline of both the training period and on-the-job training, which details equipment and suggested activities and materials.
