Getting Future Teachers To Think about Teaching in the Future.

The author contends that teacher education courses must begin to encourage future teachers to think constructively about the future and how it will affect them personally and as members of society. The appropriate place of the futuristic material is discussed, and the inclusion of such studies in traditional History of Education and Philosophy of Education courses is suggested. A description is given of the way in which one small college incorporated a futurisitc perspective into regular teacher education courses. Detailed examples of exercises used by that college are given. Information regarding the aim, source or recommended text to be used, classroom procedure, time requirements, and necessary materials for each of the suggested exercises is included. (LH)
