Summer Study Abroad.
Cohen, Gail A., Ed.
This catalog describes summer study abroad programs around the world for students of college age and up. The included information was obtained from surveys conducted by the Institute of International Education in September 1978. The catalog contains programs of interest to the pre-college student who wants to improve his language skills before officially starting his college career; the undergraduate fashion student who wants to spend time with the masters of Parisian couture at the studios; the teacher who wants to visit classrooms abroad; the researcher who wants a field-oriented course in tropical science; and anyone interested in broadening his educational experience by attending a study program abroad. About half of the programs listed are sponsored by U.S. colleges and universities, and the rest by private organizations and foreign institutions. Courses may be as short as several days or as long as three months. A few of the programs, especially those sponsored by foreign institutions, also admit younger students, but there are no listings for programs exclusively for secondary-school students. All programs are listed alphabetically by the region, country, and city in which they are held. Regions are Africa, South of the Sahara; East and South Asia and Oceania; Europe; Middle East and North Africa; and the Western Hemisphere. Information is included on the cost of the courses, credits offered, and availability of housing. (Author/RM)
