Public Television in Virginia. Telecommunications Study Commission, Working Paper No. 7.
Schneider, Frederick C.
This report examines the involvement of the Commonwealth of Virginia in both the support and governing of public television stations. There are seven such stations in the state, operated by four educational television entities; each of these corporations is controlled by a board of directors made up of citizens from the particular area served by the stations. Service levels described include broadcast coverage, programming, and national/state/local goals. Discussions of financial support and management provide an overview of the state's role in these areas. Conclusions reached indicate that the state needs to be more involved in the support and promotion of public television. Two references are cited. (RAO)
