The product of a graduate-level introductory course on the principles, approaches and techniques of effecting change, this syllabus provides instructors with a semi-organized collection of readings, exercises, lecture topics, films, student projects, and discussion points. Its target is the student in the professional school who has little formal background in psychology and applied behavioral science, yet whose job potential requires a need to use this knowledge to achieve results. Sections of the syllabus correspond to parts of the course: (1) effecting change in controlled environments, (2) application of learning principles, (3) general strategies for effecting change, (4) resistance to change, (5) effecting change in organizations, and (6) social change strategies for professionals. A bibliography of related literature and a list of journals for browsing are included. (Author/JD)
