Linguistics, Psychology, and the Teaching of German: An Annotated Bibliography.

The purpose of this annotated bibliography is to bring to the attention of the German teacher some of the critical issues in language teaching methodology and pedagogical theory that have been of concern recently. The bibliography points out some specific works that have a clear and direct bearing on what happens in the German classroom. The works listed here represent several general categories: (1) relationships of linguistic and psychological theory to learning problems, (2) surveys of methods and theories, (3) experiments that have thrown some liqht on well-known and persistent problems, and (4) classroom procedures that language teachers have found to be effective. Most of the citations refer to articles culled from major pedagogical journals and from other journals. (Author)
