Project STREAM--Special Training in Remedial Education Activities for Mainstreaming.
Bolinas-Stinson Union School District, Bolinas, CA.
Based on Project STREAM (Special Training in Remedial Education Activities for Mainstreaming)--an exemplary program serving learning handicapped (learning disabled and mentally retarded) students in regular classrooms in Bolinas, California--the document presents an inservice training package for regular elementary school personnel to learn techniques of instructing mainstreamed learning handicapped students. Presented in looseleaf notebook format, the manual consists of a training curriculum guide section, which covers techniques in diagnosis, intervention, and communication; and a management handbook section, which includes evaluation surveys, questionnaires, rating scales and tests, and recordkeeping sheets. The training curriculum guide provides objectives for each lesson, along with required and optional activities, references, handouts, and resources. Some of the activities lend themselves to group inservice sessions which can last from 20 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the size of the group and the number of activities attempted. (DLS)
